That Lost,Lonely Feeling.
Most of us at one time or other have had an experience with depresion in our lives and provided we can be responsive enough to catch it in the early stages,is usually short lived,unfortunatley some of us are not so responsive.
Depression is known world wide and affects more than 264 million people and when neglected can often lead to suicide,which subsequently takes close to another 800,000 lives,second only to traffic injuries among 15-29 year olds according to WHO.( World Health Organization)
Yet with all the medical break-throughs and new antidepressant drugs in todays marketplace,why are we still seeing this debilitating disease take control of thousands of lives every single day? Although it may seem that the medical industry is always looking for better efficiency,unfortunately each new progress in efficiency leads to a new problem. Solving the problem could be as easy as looking into new or other alternative methods,but that’s not what the industries do when they encounter systematic problems. Their solution is not to go back and see what’s wrong with the system,instead they are more concerned with coming up with new high tech repairs that enable the system to continue.
What About Nutrition?
Truth of the matter is we’ve been using nutrition and supplements to not only prevent but treat a plethora of diseases as far back as the early 1940’s,depression being one of them. A study released in late 2019 revealed that low fruit and vegetable intake was associated with significant levels of depression in Korean Adults from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey back in 2014.
According to Professor Ian Brightope,(M.D.,M.B.B.S.,D.AG.SCI.,FACNEM,FACHM) and founding president of Australaisian College of Nutritional Medicine,26% of patients discharged from hospitals are more malnourished than when they were admitted. And in 80-90 % of the time, the main reason they go in was related to a poor state of nutrition. Did you know that two handfuls(approximately 36 nuts) of cashews has the therapeutic equivilancy as one dose of Prozac? “Oh,but they’re expensive” you say,yet how much does it cost for Prozac or Chlorpromozine or any other of the SSRI and TCA (Serotonin Selective Reuptake Inhibitors and Tricyclic Antidepressant) medications,with or without a drug plan ?Yes! cashews are fattening but my point is:” I may be fat but you’re suffering from depression and I can go on a diet”

The Road To Recovery
Getting started on better food choices doesn’t have to be a daunting task. You can start small with maybe a piece of friut or 1 salad a day. Then gradually work your way up. A twenty minute walk on the treadmill or around your neighborhood 3 times a week. This is not to say it will have the same affects on you as it would someone else. I’m just saying try it for 2 weeks. I think you will like the results.
